Z13 von Kiel bis Narvik subtitled "War Experiences of a Destroyer Crew" was written by Kapitänleutnant (Ing.) August Wilhelm Heye. Heye was the lead engineer on Zerstörer Z13 (Destroyer Z13) Erich Koellner from its launch at the Germaniawerft in Kiel in 1937 to its demise during the second Battle of Narvik in April 1940.

Published by Verlag von Mittler & Sohn Berlin in 1941, this blue linen hardcover book with gold blocking is in very nice used condition and has the stamp of Wehrbezirks-Kommando Regensburg on the front fly leaf. The color dust jacket is original but shows wear and has been taped (on the inside).

In early 1940 Zerstörer Z13 made two successful minelaying sorties off the English coast that claimed six merchant ships. During the early stages of the Norwegian Campaign, Erich Koellner fought in both naval Battles of Narvik in mid-April 1940 and was severely damaged by British ships during the Second Battle of Narvik. The ship was scuttled by her crew shortly afterwards. In the aftermath of the battle, 155 of the ship's crew, including Fregattenkapitän Alfred Schulze-Hinrichs (shown above right), were taken prisoner by Norwegian forces.
